2024 Copper Bear Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Stagecoach marks a first for Copper Bear as the only wine in my portfolio not sourced from Beckstoffer Vineyards. It was chosen to offer a striking contrast to the valley-floor sites that define the rest of the collection. Perched high on the volcanic slopes of Atlas Peak, Stagecoach’s shallow, rocky soils and harsh growing conditions yield tiny, thick-skinned berries with deeply concentrated flavors. The resulting Cabernet Sauvignon is dark and powerful, with pronounced mountain tannin, blackberry fruit, and a savory mineral note. Side-by-side with our valley-floor Beckstoffer wines, Stagecoach offers a fascinating study in texture, with broader, more assertive tannins built for the long haul.

This is my second year putting together this blend, and it remains something of a unicorn, both for Copper Bear and for Napa Valley: the first proprietary Cabernet Sauvignon to carry the Beckstoffer name. It's built from select blocks across three of Andy's most prestigious vineyards in Oakville, St. Helena, and Rutherford.
The 2024 builds on what we started last year: generous and polished, with black cherry, cassis, and mocha, framed by supple tannins. It's the most approachable wine in my lineup, offering a rare chance to experience Beckstoffer pedigree at an accessible price. It won't last long.

2024 Copper Bear Beckstoffer Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon

Three vintages in, and Georges III remains the heart of this label. I sourced the 2024 from blocks D1 and F, which sit on Cortina gravelly loam, ground that's defined Rutherford Cabernet for generations. These rows were chosen for the balance they strike between power and elegance. This vintage came in with noticeably more tannin than last year, with great concentration alongside the classic dark fruit, cassis, and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins carry through to a long finish, and it's a wine built for the cellar as much as tonight's table.

My second vintage from Block A, one of Missouri Hopper's most prized parcels, and a wine that shows a different side of this site than last year. Where the 2023 was inky and brooding, the 2024 leads with aromatics and fruit, and the front palate is genuinely luscious, some of the most immediately generous Cabernet I've made from this block. The tannins came in big early in the ferment and have settled into real structure, giving the wine backbone without ever feeling heavy. It's a different Missouri Hopper than last year's, but every bit as compelling: concentrated, layered, and built to reward the years ahead. Lay this one down for a few years if you can control yourself.

2024 Copper Bear Napa Valley Rosé
Napa Valley AVA
The 2024 Rosé of Napa Valley comes from a blend of Rutherford and Oakville valley floor Bordeaux varieties that were fermented in stainless steel then aged in a neutral oak barrel. The wine shows perfumed floral notes, along with peach and strawberry on the nose. On the palate, the wine is crisp and dry, with a structured midpalate reminiscent of a Bandol rosé, with soft layers and little tannin.

These rows in Blocks A1D and F were hand-selected for their perfect balance of power and elegance, rooted in the famed Cortina gravel loam that has defined Rutherford Cabernet for generations. The 2023 vintage delivers layers of dark fruit, cassis, and subtle baking spice, framed by fine-grained tannins and a long, graceful finish. It is my favorite Georges III wine I have ever made, a bottling that speaks of pedigree and place, offering both immediate pleasure and remarkable aging potential.

Missouri Hopper is a cornerstone of Oakville Cabernet history, and Block A is among its most prized parcels. Here, deep alluvial clay loam yields fruit of exceptional concentration and depth. The 2023 bottling is especially meaningful for me. It was my final pick of a long harvest, with incredible hang time that pushed the fruit to its absolute peak. The result is the inkiest, darkest wine I have ever made: saturated blackberry and black cherry flavors layered with graphite undertones and a muscular tannin frame that promises decades of evolution. Of the four wines in this release, it is the most powerful and tannin-driven, unapologetically bold and built for long-term cellaring. It is the kind of Cabernet that leaves your tongue and teeth stained deep purple, a fitting finale to the vintage.

The 2022 Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon showcases layers of dark, concentrated fruit, with notes of blackberry and ripe plum dominating the profile. Plush, refined tannins offer a smooth and velvety texture. The wine is grown on Cortina gravel within Georges III’s most highly allocated vineyard block.

The 2022 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon showcases soft silky tannins, great depth, and notes of graphite, cherry, and plum. The wine has refined tannins with a touch of acidity, and displays the famous Rutherford dust profile.
